Nutritional Counselling and Wellness (Adult/Youth)

Reay Hutchinson, RNT, CulArts, CSNC, B. Comm. (Hons.)

Hasu eCounselling™ provides assessment and counselling regarding nutrition in recovery from mental health issues and addiction.

Proper nutrition benefits those who are in recovery because nutrients give the body energy, help build and repair organ tissue and strengthen the immune system.  Often, those who are in early recovery have damaged vital organs during the course of their drug or alcohol abuse. Good nutrition provides them with the nutritional building blocks they need to begin restoring these damaged tissues.

Nutrition also plays an important role in mood.  Changes in your diet can alter brain structure both chemically and physiologically, and influence your behaviour.

Those in recovery from issues such as alcoholism, drug addiction, depression and other mental health issues can use food to feel better physically and mentally.   It is recommended that eating frequent, healthy meals could improve your chance of having a healthy recovery.

Reay Hutchinson is a Registered Nutritional Therapist and has worked as a Natural Nutritional Clinical Practitioner for seven years. During this time, she has had the pleasure of providing individual counselling and group wellness workshops to people looking to improve their lives through nutritional and wellness practices.  While Reay's experience covers a wide range of areas including sports nutrition and nutrition for specific medical conditions, her passion lies in working with individuals seeking to thrive in their recovery from drug and alcohol addiction as well as nutritional support for issues around mental illness.

Through her own experiences, Reay understands that addiction and mental health imbalances can impact anyone, at any age at any time, in their life.  It can often be overwhelming and intimidating to thrive in recovery, but with her empathetic and holistic approach, she has educated many that with the right skills and nutritional choices, recovery can be highly rewarding.

Reay Hutchinson is a Registered Nutritional Therapist (RNT) with the Canadian Association of Natural Nutritional Practitioners (CANNP).  As a former competitive athlete, she also has expertise in sports nutrition and is a Certified Sports Nutrition Consultant (CSNC) through Alive Academy.  Reay is a graduate of the George Brown College Culinary Arts program which allows her to facilitate cooking workshops, utilizing culinary skills to elevate personalized and well-measured nutritional practices 'beyond boiled beans.'
