Why an online private practice?
Online counselling is available and accessible. With advancement in mobile technology and end-to-end encryption, safe and confidential eCounselling is now a reality. A therapist can be contacted on a laptop or mobile device.
Hasu eCounselling provides an easy way to reach clients with the same type of existing proven technology used in telemedicine. It’s easy to use and all you need is a computer or mobile device with a webcam. Hasu is available on all devices and browsers. Software used is available from the Apple App Store and Google Play.
You can set your own hours and change them at anytime, even on your smartphone. Provide counselling out of the comfort of your own home or at the cottage.
Private and Secure
There are extensive safeguards built into the Hasu website and the servers' operating system it runs on. Hasu ensures protected end-to-end encryption across all devices. All communication and registration information on the website is encrypted using Comodo SSL/TLS technology.
Use of secure and encrypted software provides a safe exchange of personal information between a client and an online therapist. Hasu uses the same software as the Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN); a secure toll-free number; and secure messaging used by Canadian physicians.
When receiving online counselling, the client has an opportunity to be open and honest in a non-judgemental environment without stigma. Some people feel vulnerable going to an office for face-to-face counselling, especially those with anxiety disorders. Online, they experience control over the session and feel empowered.
Support for your existing private practice
If you have an existing private practice, you can offer additional support for your clients. Offer online sessions for clients who are house-bound, live in rural areas or out-of-province on business. Check in with your clients using secure texting between sessions. Gain new clients from exposure on the Hasu website from across the province in which you are registered.
"Integrated properly, e-Mental health is proving to be just as effective as face-to-face services and the technology is improving every day. Not only will this result in more people getting help, but it will also improve the quality of care we deliver, reduce costs, and overcome challenges that are present in our healthcare system. All of this will result in the improved mental health for Canadians."
-Mental Health Commission of Canada, 2014
“Ninety percent of online clients who participated in the survey felt that E-therapy helped them. Many participants also felt that they would not have initially sought face-to-face therapy.”
-Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA), 2009
“Patients were randomly assigned to 16 weeks of aftercare via text messaging versus no aftercare via text messaging. The aftercare intervention was efficacious in enhancing treatment outcome after discharge from inpatient treatment.”
-Journal of Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking, 2012
“The addition of extended telephone-based continuing care produced significantly better alcohol use outcomes than standard care in alcohol-dependent patients receiving treatment in publicly funded IOPs.
The intervention reduced both the incidence and the frequency of any alcohol use and heavy alcohol use, relative to standard care, with clinically significant effects still present at 18 months."
-Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 2010
Unlike conventional private practice, there’s no office rental and operating costs. Hasu takes the headache and expense out of having your own private practice. All online therapists are on a contract basis.
Hasu provides the benefit of an individualized biography and extensive marketing and advertising to attract clients to your practice.
“Smartphones and tablets are part of our life and telemedicine and online banking have paved the way. It makes perfect sense to use existing technology to offer online counselling. Our mission is to match clients with certified therapists across Canada who specialize in mental health and addictions."
