What is Hasu eCounselling?
Hasu is a Japanese word for lotus flower and revered in Japan for its ability to rise from dirty, murky waters to bloom into a beautiful flower. Like the lotus flower, we can rise above human suffering in the same way, break free and bloom.
Hasu eCounselling™ is a Canadian company that provides online video, talk and text counselling for people struggling with stress, anxiety, depression and addiction including problem gambling. Hasu also provides support to the family members who are affected by the individual's mental health and substance use issues.
Hasu was founded and designed by therapists in an effort to address long wait times for health care in Canada and provide support after clients have completed treatment programs for addiction and mental health issues.
All Hasu eCounselling™ providers are experienced and certified Canadian healthcare professionals registered with their provincial regulatory body. Providers on the Hasu Provider Network are registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW); the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) or the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation (CACCF). Click here for information about the Hasu Provider Network.
Hasu eCounselling™ addiction specialists can provide an assessment for referral to addiction treatment centres in Ontario and support the client in choosing the right treatment centre for them. Referrals can be made to short-term programs (28 - 35 days), long-term programs (3 to 6 months) or day programs in Ontario.

Some people feel vulnerable and anxious going to an office for face-to-face counselling. Online, they experience control over their session and feel comfortable and empowered.
Studies show that online counselling is as effective as face-to-face counselling.
“Research suggests that patients report enhanced therapeutic alliance, increased self-disclosure, and decreased stigma with distance services when compared to face-to-face services.”
